HAIR CARE TIPS
Hair care is very important when wearing Virgin hair extensions because the hair is not receiving nutrients from the scalp. Our Virgin hair can last up to a year with proper care and the tips below can help you do so. Always inspect the hair before installing. Leave the bundle intact. If there are any issues with the hair you should notice at this time.
Sealing your wefts is a recommendation before install for added protection. Sealing your wefts will eliminate shedding and add longevity to your investment. This is only an option for added protection, as our hair has very little shedding…
We strongly suggest co-washing your hair before installing. Co-washing is a method to wash hair without using shampoo and washing with conditioner only. When co-washing your hair, you should use a moisturizing conditioner. Rinse the hair with cold water. Let the hair air dry and then install.
To maintain your hair- wash your hair with sulfate free products. (Products that contain sulfate are very damaging and extremely drying to the hair.) Remember to use very minimal styling products and AVOID alcohol based products. Minimal heat will give longer life to your hair extensions. When hair is wet ensure that you comb thoroughly to detangle starting from the ends to the scalp. Deep condition your hair with a moisturizing conditioner every 1 to 2 weeks. When shampooing the hair, always shampoo it stroking in a downward motion. Use your fingers in a horizontal motion between wefts to clean your scalp. When rinsing, do the same to be sure that all the shampoo and conditioner residues are shampooed out. Use heat tamer spray before putting heat on the hair. This will protect the hair. We recommend Tresseme Heat Tamer spray.
At bedtime, we highly recommend that you control the hair --braid, wrap or ponytail your hair together to prevent tangling. Secure your hair with a silk head wrap, silk bonnet or sleep on a silk pillow case. This will save time that would be spent untangling the hair the next morning.
Tight Curl/Deep Wave is NOT a low maintenance or wash-n-go hair texture and we recommend wearing it in its natural state. Your hair WILL require attention, care, and frequent moisturizing in order to maintain its beautiful curly appearance. For styling, we suggest finger-styling only. Combing or brushing will break the naturally tight curl pattern and will lead to a fuller, frizzier look. Please do not brush or comb curly hair while dry, it will cause frizz and the ends may tangle.
When detangling use a wide tooth comb while the hair is wet and make sure to deep condition weekly. A lite serum can be used for added shine. Use a shampoo with pH 7 or lower.
